Why We Built This Site
Wisconsin provides several public access routes, yet each answers a different question. The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office holds its reports, jail and booking information, and warrant material. The Clerk of Courts keeps filed charges, docket events, judgments, and court documents. The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Law Enforcement Services, Crime Information Bureau maintains the fingerprint-supported state repository and operates WORCS for public name searches. Wisconsin DOC separately runs its offender locator and the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. We bring the official contacts, search tools, fees, limits, and request steps together while keeping those roles clear.
What You Will Find Here
- Local record routes: how criminal court case records are found and read in Lafayette County
- Official check steps: how Wisconsin name-based and fingerprint-supported record requests differ
- Accurate contacts: where to reach the sheriff, Clerk of Courts, jail, DOJ repository, DOC locator, and registry
- Record correction context: how Wisconsin expungement works and why a court order and DOJ record must be checked separately
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not a Wisconsin court, law-enforcement office, or state agency. That means our role has firm limits:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot submit an expungement petition, open-records request, or other filing for you
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
- We cannot promise that an agency's address, fee, hours, or phone line has not changed
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the sheriff, the court, or Wisconsin DOJ. We can identify the route, but cannot issue the document.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes on some pages. They control their services, prices, data practices, and results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports this resource. We neither set those charges nor determine which matches the provider returns.
